C.A.R.E. (Castaway Animal Rescue Effort)

This non-profit organization is different from any other animal rescues in our community. C.A.R.E. in Springfield, MO is Southwest Missouri’s no-kill shelter. They specialize in rescuing sick, injured, and abused animals in the Ozarks. After the animals recover they are then sent to the Adoption Center in Springfield. If the animal isn’t adopted they return to the sanctuary where they remain cage-less, running and playing freely with a lot of love.

C.A.R.E. partners with local humane societies by taking in animals that weren’t adopted and saving them from being euthanized. All pets are spayed or neutered before they are adopted. Adopters will be screened to ensure the perfect home for each dog or cat.

If you aren’t interested in helping by adding a four legged friend to your family, that’s ok, there are plenty of other ways to get involved.

The C.A.R.E. Mission: To rescue as many adoptable animals from “death row” as we can properly care for. To provide medical treatment to sick or injured stray animals. To combine an aggressive spay/neuter program with a high volume adoption program while providing quality lifetime care for unadopted pets. To network with and provide a rescue service for other shelters, ultimately reducing the kill-rate in Southwest Missouri.
